Development of a Portal Site for Japanese Studies and Humanities in Japan
As part of the 2013–14 academic year Resource Sharing Project, the National Institutes for the Humanities (NIHU) has developed a portal site called the” English Resource Guide for Japanese Studies and Humanities in Japan”. The purpose of this Guide is to enrich international resources pertaining to Japanese studies and humanities in Japan.
An international portal for Japanese studies and Japanese academic institutions existed in the early days of the Internet, but such a portal no longer exists. NIHU saw the need to produce this digital resource guide as a means of promoting the globalization of Japanese studies and humanities in Japan and of enriching the research resources available for use. It is hoped that the Guide will also encourage the development of Japan studies and humanities related resources in Japanese studies and humanities studies in Japan and promote the usage of these resources by various academic and cultural institutions.
